A job fair was held at Navi Mumbai on the 7th of May, 2015 to help the local youth find suitable jobs. This initiative was a part of the India Digital Inclusion Program (IDIP) started a year ago by Pratham InfoTech Foundation (PIF) in partnership with Rotary Foundation.

This program aims to provide IT training along with work place soft skills with an effort to arm the youth from the underserved segments with skills they require to find suitable employment. Since its conception, 580 students have been IT trained in 23 centers across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Providing them with skills is not the sole responsibility of the two organizations. They also try their best to make the job search easier for these youth who do not know much about career options, available opportunities and how to get there. And so after the successful completion of their Digital Literacy Course (DLC) and soft skills workshops, these students are taken through career counselling sessions and later connected to employers. The job fair held at the Rotary club of Navi Mumbai was one such step towards connecting employers with these

needy youth. The day began with a short pep talk by Prem Yadav, Director, Pratham InfoTech Foundation, motivating the youth and briefing them about the day to follow. Each student was assisted in filling out a details form, more like a CV as soon as they entered the premises. Interviews began around 11 am and went on till 6 pm that evening. It was indeed a long, challenging, productive day filled with both anxiety and excitement.

There was a huge crowd with 200+ students, including youth and young adults with a noticeable majority of girls and house wives present. Human Resource professionals from well known companies working in various sectors like BPO, Banking, Insurance, Retail, Food chains etc were there too.

It was a successful day as 190+ students were selected by the different companies present, in roles they best suited.

Along with the happy partners, Pratham InfoTech Foundation (PIF) and Rotary Foundation, many anxious faces that entered the hall on the morning of May 7, 2015, went back home that evening radiant with joy and hope for a brighter future.
