Mr. Sachin Pilot, Hon. Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology, Govt. of India inaugurated Pratham – IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program at Ajmer. Pratham in partnership with IBM and Government of Rajasthan have installed 100 KidSmart units across 100 schools in Ajmer and Jaipur district of Rajasthan.
At the inauguration function in Ajmer, Mr. Sachin Pilot said that he first realized the potential benefits of using educational technologies side-by-side classroom teaching environment, when he came across IBM’s educational technologies in one of his U.S visits. Since then, he was eager to bring the same technology to Rajasthan, India, also his home state.
The Pratham – IBM KidSmart partnership in Rajasthan will introduce to school kids at early age and their teachers various computer based tools and techniques that aim to facilitate competency based learning, classroom teaching, teaching material development, student-record management and content collection through online sources. It is expected that the Pratham-IBM KidSmart Program will benefit approximately 20,000 kids between the age group 6 and 13.
As partner, Pratham will assist Govt. of Rajasthan in technology management, educational software, teacher training, monitoring and evaluation. To date, Pratham has trained 70 schools teachers from Jaipur and Ajmer districts of Rajasthan as part of Pratham’s Teaching Effectiveness Program, which aims to introduce to teachers to cutting-edge educational technologies and computer based teaching practices.
The Pratham IT team is excited about the new initiative and looking forward to making learning more pleasurable and teaching more effective for children in the state of Rajasthan.
